Parent Testimonial: Bethany

Bethany got help to support her son (age 3) manage behaviour struggles

Bethany first came to me with worries about her son’s behaviour. It had recently been inferred by nursery that he may have long-term needs and required support.

‘I felt very stressed before we started working together. Confidence that my son’s behaviour struggles were a phase was dwindling and I was overwhelmed by differing parenting advice’.

After working together for 3 months, Bethany was able to achieve brilliant results and had a much happier child!

‘I achieved so many results during our time together. Way less shouting, positive feedback from nursery at every pickup, shorter-lived outbursts and overall a huge amount of clarity over how to support our little boy’s emotions in incredible, simple and practical ways’.

How did you find working with me?

‘It felt easy. Results came fast and the insight from Sarah right from the start was so reassuring. Conversations were very informal and we felt very well supported throughout. Sarah’s attitude made challenges understandable and therefor more easy to overcome (or at least alleviate). Her experience and empathy is delivered with super valuable information and perspective. I felt better about the situation just from our first conversation, let alone the first coaching session.’

Is there anyone that you think could benefit from working with me?

‘I believe all parents would benefit from Sarah’s insight, but those with any concerns about speech, language, behaviour or facing assessments or observations would find the understanding and support whilst navigating the struggle invaluable.’

Working with Bethany and her husband to support their son has been a joy, and it is amazing to see their progress and results. Helping her son’s understanding of his feelings and how to support him means they can have a more positive family life, with a happier child.

Parent Testimonial: Sarah

Sarah, a mum of three children aged 4, 7 and 9, got help to reduce family conflict and support her eldest child

Sarah and her husband are parents to three kids, and it is full on! They came to me because they were finding that the different needs and personalities of their children were difficult to manage and that there were lots of blow outs along the way. It felt like an ongoing battle with daily casualties.

‘I felt desperate, really. Our family was in constant conflict and I didn’t know where to start with strategies to help.’

Having worked together for over three months, it has been wonderful to see the progress that Sarah and her family have made.

‘Working with Sarah was transformative. Sarah is highly perceptive and identifies quickly the problems and appropriate remedies. I feel like I have a go-to list of ways to address conflict. Sarah basically gave us a personalised system for managing our family, which is amazing! In addition to this, she is helping us hugely to move through a process of understanding how best to support our eldest child, who is very complex. I feel that Sarah is looking at my child very holistically, without making any assumptions or judgements or ruling anything in or out.’

What did you like best about working with me?

‘Without a doubt, your empathy and compassion.’

Would you recommend me and my services?

‘Yes, definitely. Sarah will support you and your family 100%, you will feel you have someone with a wealth of knowledge but also a huge level of natural insight on your side. She has a gift of seeing a problem from a variety of angles at once. I would recommend Sarah to parents who feel out of control or out of energy. To parents who feel there is something not quite right about a child, or who have a child who is struggling but the parent doesn't really know where to turn for help.’

Through working together, we have managed to reduce conflict in Sarah’s family and we are working towards helping Sarah find what may underlie her eldest child’s challenges, and how best she can be supported.

Parent Testimonial: Michelle

Michelle reached out for help with her son’s (aged 1) speech and language development

Michelle first came to me as she was worried about where to begin with supporting her son with his speech and language.

‘I felt overwhelmed as we found out that our son had Down syndrome post-birth so I had no time to prepare or know what to do to ensure he had the right support.’

It has been wonderful to work with Michelle and her little one over the past 10 months. I was able to provide individual support with his speech and language, as well as help with other areas such as attention, listening and play skills. It is lovely to see the progress he is making in lots of different areas of development!

‘Sarah made me feel so relaxed from the onset and gave me the confidence to support my son and where to start and what to prioritise! She gave me lots of useful strategies to help me work on my son’s attention and listening, to know what sounds and signs to work on and made me think about things in small steps which enabled me to feel less overwhelmed. My son’s attention and listening has really improved with the activities set by Sarah as well as being able to understand turn taking and he is able to say some key sounds.’

I also provided help in the nursery setting and visited the staff at the nursery Michelle’s son attends

‘My son’s teachers all said how much they had learnt from Sarah’s expertise that could be applied to the nursery setting! I’ve already seen photos of some of the activities Sarah has suggested.’

Filling out forms and paperwork can be a stressful and confusing experience, and I am here to support you with these to make the experience smooth and easy, and to ensure you feel confident. I helped Michelle with her son’s Disability Living Allowance paperwork:

‘Sarah also helped me to apply for my son’s Disability Living Allowance, which we were awarded and gave me useful tips to be able to fill out the form.’

What was it like to work with me?

‘You see every child as an individual and will tailor support to meet their needs! You make every family feel valued and well looked after! You’re a real-life Mary Poppins! You have so much expertise and any child could benefit as you have so many ideas that could help all children meet milestones! You’re also a great listener and I can tell you anything and you never judge.’

Parent Testimonial: Niki

Niki got help to support her daughter (aged 10) to reduce meltdowns and anxiety

Niki and her husband came to me because they were really worried about their daughter. Her mood swings and behaviour at home were having a negative impact on their family life, and they felt like they were constantly walking on eggshells.

‘I felt that without help I didn't know how to support my child and have an acceptable level of calm at home.’

We worked together over a period of three months, meeting for a video call once a fortnight with email contact in between. It has been amazing to see how Niki and her husband have been able to get on the same page to work together to support their daughter.

‘Bedtime was vastly improved, which helped improve the kids’ mood, and provided us with some time in the evening for ourselves. We learnt how to support our daughter better to reduce her meltdowns and support her during them. We also began to address how we could support her with her anxiety.

What is it like working with me?

‘You are knowledgeable and helped us find practical, achievable solutions. The theory you explained made sense and the practical steps you suggested worked immediately. You are a coach not a therapist and the strength of that is that you gave us resources to use after every session. Plus you provided a very supportive environment. And you brought us kindness and humour to our meetings.’

We have had a few tears and lots of laughter along the way, but the important thing is that by working together we have found ways to make family life more manageable and there is now so much more space for fun and enjoying time together. Not every moment needs to be a battle.

Parent Testimonial: Laura

Laura got support for her son’s (aged 3) social communication difficulties

“Sarah’s guidance, support, knowledge, compassion and understanding have, quite literally, changed our lives.

After learning that our darling boy has social communication challenges we found ourselves confronting a diagnosis we didn’t properly understand, and faced navigating a horribly complicated and daunting care and school system that seemed impenetrable.

By a huge stroke of luck we found Sarah, and quickly she became the cornerstone as we built a different life for ourselves, faced with our new reality.

Her wise counsel, her measured and deeply knowledgable advice, her sense of humour, her availability, and her emotional support have been invaluable to both of us. Perhaps most striking has been just how much she clearly cares for our little boy and is invested in his growth; her approach is not care by numbers, but rather profoundly personal and intimate, and as his parents we trust her absolutely with our son. More importantly, he also trusts her absolutely and the difference she is making is immeasurable.

It’s a wonder this super woman has time to see any other families, no less care for her own lovely family, such is the level of attention she continues to provide us with.

Sarah is without doubt the greatest carer, advisor, counsellor, and now friend that we could have wished for to join us on our journey. If any of our story or the associated feelings of loss, confusion and despondency resonate, and you would like to change your child's story to one of clarity, hope and positivity, I would urge you to speak to Sarah.”
