Makaton Level 1 & 2 Workshop
Come along for in depth training on using Makaton Signs and Symbols delivered by Specialist SEN Teacher and experienced Makaton Tutor. Sarah Billingham.
The workshop will take place over two days at Bracknell Open Learning Centre.
We’ll learn about:
Signs and symbols from Makaton Stages 1 – 4 & Additional
The importance of sign and symbol use
Overview of alternative communication systems
Practical and engaging ways to introduce Makaton and functional communication opportunities
Participants will receive:
Course manuals (including signs and symbols) and certificate of attendance
This course is recommended for people wanting to use Makaton to support children/adults with speech, language and communication needs. It will be relevant for parents/carers and those working across a range of settings e.g. children's centres, nurseries, schools and colleges.

We’ll learn about:
Signs and symbols for Stages 5, 6, 7 & 8
Using signs and symbols from Stages 1 – 8 and Additional Vocabulary in their daily environment, and use the techniques of placement, directionality and movement
The techniques to make information accessible to Makaton users
The components of signs and how to analyse them
Develop confidence in using signs and symbols accurately and fluently
Improving interpretation and analysis skills
Participants will receive:
Course manuals (including signs and symbols) and certificate of attendance
This course is for people that have completed Makaton Level 1 & 2 and are wanting to further their skills.
It will be relevant for parents/carers and those working across a range of settings e.g. children's centres, nurseries, schools and colleges.
